Your choice
Optional pageview counting stays off until you allow it. Declining leaves the website and service guide available. You can change your choice here at any time. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals keep counting off, even if you previously allowed it.
Pageview statistics
With your permission, the site counts visits to public pages, referring website domains and countries supplied by Cloudflare. These daily totals help me understand which work people read and improve the website. There are no advertising pixels, visitor IDs, individual browsing histories or profiles.
The analytics file stores aggregate counts, not IP addresses, full referring URLs or email addresses. It keeps a rolling 90-day window, removing older totals when a new count is recorded. If counting is switched off site-wide, existing totals remain until removed. I rely on your consent for optional collection; withdrawing it stops future counts. Existing anonymous totals cannot be linked back to you.
Service-guide requests & email
If you request a passcode, the site saves your email address, request date, request status and notification delivery details in a private inbox. Resend sends the request to my email, with your address as the reply address, so I can respond. The form does not add you to a mailing list or send the passcode automatically.
I use this information to handle your request and relevant follow-up, relying on my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. Where you ask about working together, processing may also be necessary to take steps towards a contract. Providing your email is voluntary, but I need it to reply.
Requests and correspondence are kept while needed to answer you, manage relevant work or resolve a related issue, and removed manually when no longer needed. The website inbox does not automatically expire requests. Private backups may retain an earlier copy until replaced. You can ask me to delete your request.
Cookies & security
- earth_privacy: remembers allow or decline for 180 days. It contains the same choice value for everyone who selects that option, not an identifier. It is only saved when you make a choice.
- earth_guide_session: keeps the service guide unlocked for up to 12 hours after a correct passcode.
- earth_admin_session: protects the private admin login for up to 12 hours. Ordinary visitors do not receive it.
These cookies remember your requested choice or provide private access. They are not used for advertising. Clearing the preference cookie resets your choice and stops optional counting until you allow it again.
To protect forms and private access, the server uses short-lived attempt counters and a keyed hash of the network address. Raw addresses are not saved in these application files. Guide limits use a one-hour window; inactive login records are removed after 24 hours when the next login is processed. Security processing relies on my legitimate interest in preventing abuse and keeping the site available.
Hosting & service providers
The website and its saved content run on my own server. Cloudflare delivers and protects traffic; it processes technical information such as IP addresses and request details as part of that service. This essential delivery and security processing continues when you decline optional pageview counting.
Resend and my email provider process service-guide enquiries and replies. Cloudflare and Resend may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Their published data-processing terms provide international-transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum where applicable. Details and copies are available in the Cloudflare data-processing terms and Resend data-processing terms, or by contacting me.
Resend describes email and log retention of 30 days on its standard plans in its privacy guidance. Provider security records and correspondence follow the relevant service’s retention terms. I do not sell personal information. Social and project links take you to separate websites with their own privacy practices.
Your rights
You can ask to access or correct your personal information, have it deleted, restrict its use or receive a portable copy where applicable. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, including enquiry handling and security processing; I will consider your request against any overriding lawful reasons to continue. You can withdraw analytics consent using the button above, without affecting processing before withdrawal.
Email [email protected] to exercise these rights. I may need to confirm your identity. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. This site does not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
