In a Nutshell
I cross-pollinate sustainability, technology, and design to tackle some of the planet's most urgent challenges. My work blends AI, mechatronics, computer vision, design engineering, IoT, embedded systems, and industrial automation — with a particular focus on environmental monitoring, robotics, and cyber-physical systems.
I support innovation, design, and engineering initiatives, with expertise in the UK water sector. From leading experimental prototypes to coordinating multi-million-pound projects in AI and innovation strategy, I help organisations push boundaries, explore new methodologies, and deliver impact at scale.
Beyond the lab and studio, I develop ed-tech programmes, produce short films, and work in the field alongside NGOs to document and co-create regenerative solutions. Whether mentoring students at Imperial College or collaborating with communities across the Global South, my work bridges storytelling, education, and real-world systems change.

Natura • Eudamonia • Resilentia
"Natura • Eudamonia • Resilentia" is not just a guiding principle for my work — it is engraved on one of the singing bowls that form part of Longplayer, a 1000-year-long musical composition. Longplayer is a symbol of resilience, continuity, and connection across generations. It's mission resonates deeply with my commitment to crafting sustainable designs that honour nature, nurture human flourishing, and adapt to the ever-changing rhythms of life.
At the heart of Solarpunk Industries ethos lies this triad of values:
Natura (Latin: "Nature") - Seeing nature as both inspiration and responsibility, striving to blend human creativity with ecological integrity.
Eudaimonia (Greek: "Human Flourishing") - Rooted in ancient Greek ideals, creating work that uplifts and enriches communities.
Resilientia (Latin: "Resilience") - Embracing adaptability, designing enduring solutions that evolve with our changing world.
Together, these principles shape my approach to design, innovation, and collaboration, guiding me to create meaningful work that celebrates life, preserves nature, and fosters a future worth building.
Voices
It has been an absolute pleasure working with Ryan McClure through his collaborations with Northumbrian Water. Ryan is a creative force, full of energy, innovation, and a deep commitment to producing excellent work. His ability to engage a diverse range of people and facilitate workshops that drive towards clear, productive outcomes is outstanding. He has a rare talent for bringing out the best in others, making every session both inspiring and effective. Ryan’s integrity, reliability, and warmth of spirit make him not only a brilliant contributor but also a trusted and enjoyable partner to work with. He consistently delivers on deadlines, works independently, and brings fresh, imaginative thinking to every project he touches. At Northumbrian Water, Ryan played a key role in several customer-focused initiatives aimed at improving our natural spaces. Notably, he contributed to the River Deep Mountain AI project, a pioneering catchment model designed to predict water body health which went on to secure significant funding. His input was instrumental in shaping the bid and its success. He also led on the development of a visionary customer-based reward tool that was well ahead of its time. As Head of Innovation, I’ve found Ryan’s contributions invaluable. He brings deep design expertise, strategic insight, and an infectious passion for sustainable innovation. I would wholeheartedly recommend working with Ryan, he elevates every project he’s involved in.
